Lake Kiowa

Lake Kiowa, Texas is a private community located 75 miles north of Dallas in the southeast area of Cooke County. This gated north Texas getaway is home to roughly 2,000 residents including many couple's, families, and weekenders. Lake Kiowa only totals 3.8 square miles, while the lake accounts for .8 of the total square miles.



Besides the beautiful secluded location, many people are drawn to Lake Kiowa for its amenities, which include lake access, an 18 hole private golf course, and gated security. There is also plentiful fish stocked in the lake maintained by the Lake Kiowa Anglers and Conversation Club. Other amenities include two separate beaches, swimming areas, volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, and a disc golf course. There is also a Lodge (restaurant, bar, and community center) along side a large pavilion where many Lake Kiowa events are held annually. Labor day, memorial day, and The 4th of July are some of the popular holidays among Lake Kiowa residents and guests. The property is secured by a combination of private security, Cooke County Sheriff's Department and the Gainesville Police Department.

Lake Kiowa remains run and maintained for, and by, the residents. The community is governed by an elected board, with a Community Manager system in place. The property owners run and own the community as there is no longer a developer. The Lake Kiowa security can issue tickets and enforce community laws and citations. This system has been effective for many years now, and has proven to be successful.
